The 4 reasons data is missing
When a keyword card in LemRank displays "No Data," it indicates that the system has not yet retrieved or fully processed the necessary information. There are four primary reasons this may occur:
- Fresh keywords: Newly added keywords require an initial fetching cycle to populate position data. Click data, if applicable, requires additional time and a Google Search Console (GSC) connection.
- Engine or geo mismatch: The search engine or geographic location configured in LemRank for the keyword does not match your GSC settings, or valid data for that combination is not available.
- GSC not connected: Google Search Console is not linked to your LemRank project, which prevents the retrieval of click, impression, and average position data.
- Tracking paused due to plan limit: Your LemRank subscription plan has reached its keyword limit, and tracking for some keywords has been automatically paused.
The following sections detail each of these scenarios and provide steps to resolve them.
Fresh keywords: waiting for the first cycle
When you add new keywords to LemRank, they do not populate with data instantly. The system needs time to perform its initial tracking cycle.
-
Position data: For newly added keywords, position data becomes available after the first tracking cycle. LemRank refreshes tracked keyword positions every 24 hours for paid plans and every 72 hours for the 14-day trial. If you have just added keywords, wait for the next scheduled refresh.
-
Click data: Click data, which includes impressions, average position, and total clicks, relies on an active connection to Google Search Console.
- Even with GSC connected, it takes approximately 2-3 days for this data to accumulate and display within LemRank after a keyword is added. This delay is due to the nature of GSC's data processing and aggregation.
- If you see position data but no click data for a new keyword, verify that GSC is connected. If it is, wait a few days for the data to populate.
Example: You add 10 new keywords to your project on Monday at 9:00 AM.
- If you are on a paid plan, position data will appear by Tuesday morning following the daily refresh.
- If you are on the trial plan, position data will appear by Thursday morning after the 72-hour refresh.
- Click data for these keywords will begin to appear in 2-3 days, assuming GSC is connected.
Engine or geo mismatch
LemRank tracks keywords based on specific search engine and geographic location settings for each project. If these settings do not align with where your website is most visible or where GSC is reporting data, you may see "No Data."
Explanation: Google Search Console reports data based on the organic search results it observes for your property, which can be influenced by the target country or language settings within GSC. If LemRank is set to track keywords for "Google.co.uk" (United Kingdom) but your GSC property is primarily indexed for users in the United States, significant data discrepancies or "No Data" situations can occur.
How to check and resolve:
-
Review project settings:
- Navigate to your project in LemRank.
- Go to Settings > General.
- Note the Target Search Engine and Target Country.
-
Verify GSC property settings:
- Log in to Google Search Console.
- Select the property corresponding to your LemRank project.
- Go to Legacy tools and reports > International Targeting (under the old property view) or check the Settings for URL prefix properties, or Associated Search Console Property for domain properties (under the new property view) to understand its primary targeting.
- While GSC doesn't have a single "target country" setting that applies universally to all reports like it did for old International Targeting reports, the data it provides is inherently linked to where your site primarily ranks.
-
Cross-reference data:
- In GSC, go to Performance > Search results.
- Set a date range.
- Filter by Country. See which countries generate the most impressions and clicks.
- Compare these top-performing countries with the Target Country set in your LemRank project.
Resolution strategy:
- Adjust LemRank settings: If GSC data predominantly shows traffic from a country different from your LemRank project's target, consider changing the LemRank project's Target Country to align with GSC's most relevant data.
- Add separate projects: If you target multiple distinct countries with the same website, consider creating separate LemRank projects for each country. This allows you to track keywords, engines, and geos independently for more accurate reporting.
Example: Your LemRank project is set to track keywords on "Google.fr" (France). However, your website's primary traffic source, as reported by Google Search Console, is "Google.de" (Germany), and your GSC property targeting indicates Germany. In this scenario, LemRank may show "No Data" or sparse data for keywords tracked on Google.fr because consistent ranking data for that target may not be available from GSC.
GSC not connected (for click data)
The absence of click data (impressions, average position, clicks) is directly linked to whether your Google Search Console account is connected to LemRank for the specific project.
Explanation: LemRank retrieves this type of performance data directly from Google Search Console's API. If GSC is not connected, or if the connection is broken, LemRank cannot access this information. Position data, however, is gathered independently by LemRank's own tracking mechanisms, so you might see positions even without a GSC connection.
How to check:
- In LemRank:
- Go to your project.
- Navigate to Settings > Integrations.
- Look for the Google Search Console section. It should indicate "Connected" with the associated email address, or provide a button to "Connect Google Search Console."
Resolution:
- Connect Google Search Console: If GSC is not connected, follow the instructions provided in the LemRank interface to establish the connection. This typically involves authenticating with your Google account and granting LemRank permission to access your GSC data.
- Reconnect if necessary: If GSC was previously connected but data is missing, the connection might have expired or been revoked. Attempt to disconnect and then reconnect GSC via the integration settings.
Important considerations after connecting:
- Property mapping: Ensure that you select the correct GSC property during the connection process – the one that corresponds to the website you are tracking in LemRank. If you have subdomain properties, ensure you select the appropriate one (e.g.,
blog.example.comvs.www.example.com). - Data accumulation: After a successful connection, it will still take 2-3 days for GSC click data to fully populate for your tracked keywords in LemRank. GSC's data is not real-time; it has its own processing delays.

Tracking paused due to plan limit
LemRank subscription plans have limits on the number of keywords you can track. If you exceed this limit, the system may automatically pause tracking for some keywords to bring your project back within the allowed quota. When tracking is paused for a keyword, its data will show as "No Data."
Explanation: To maintain service quality and adhere to subscription terms, LemRank enforces keyword limits. If you add more keywords than your plan allows, or if your plan tier is changed to one with a lower limit, some keywords will cease to be tracked actively.
How to check:
-
Check your plan details:
- Navigate to your account settings in LemRank.
- Go to Billing & Plan.
- Identify your current plan and its associated keyword limit.
-
Review project keyword count:
- In your LemRank project, see the total number of keywords you are currently tracking.
- Compare this to your plan's limit.
- LemRank typically indicates when a project is over its keyword limit, often with a notification or warning within the project dashboard.
-
Identify paused keywords:
- Within your keyword list in LemRank, look for specific indicators that tracking is paused for individual keywords. This might be a "paused" status or an icon next to the keyword.
Resolution:
- Remove excess keywords: If you are over your limit, delete keywords that are less critical to your tracking efforts until you are within your plan's allowance.
- Upgrade your plan: If you need to track all your current keywords and potentially more, consider upgrading your LemRank subscription plan to one with a higher keyword limit.
- Contact support: If you believe there's an error or need assistance managing your keywords or plan, contact LemRank support.
Example: Your LemRank plan allows for 500 keywords. You currently have 520 keywords in a project. LemRank may automatically pause 20 keywords. These 20 keywords will then display "No Data" until the count is reduced below 500 or your plan is upgraded.
The 2-minute diagnostic checklist
Use this checklist to quickly troubleshoot "No Data" issues for your keywords in LemRank.
-
Is it a new keyword?
- Yes: If added in the last 24-72 hours (paid vs. trial plan), wait for the next refresh cycle for position data. For click data, wait 2-3 days after GSC is connected.
- No: Proceed to the next step.
-
Is Google Search Console connected for this project?
- Check: Go to Project Settings > Integrations. Is Google Search Console connected?
- Yes, it's connected: If position data is present but click data is missing, ensure 2-3 days have passed since the keyword was added or GSC was connected/reconnected. If positions are missing, proceed to the next step.
- No, it's not connected: This is why click data is missing. Connect GSC (Project Settings > Integrations) and then wait 2-3 days for data to populate.
-
Do the LemRank target engine/geo match your GSC property's primary focus?
- Check:
- In LemRank, review Project Settings > General for Target Search Engine and Target Country.
- In Google Search Console, review Performance reports and country filters to understand your site's primary organic visibility.
- Mismatched: Adjust LemRank project settings or consider creating a new project with the correct engine/geo configuration.
- Matched or uncertain: Proceed to the next step.
- Check:
-
Are you over your plan's keyword limit?
- Check: Go to your Account Settings > Billing & Plan to see your keyword limit. Compare this to the total keywords in your project.
- Over limit: Remove excess keywords or upgrade your plan. Identify if LemRank has specifically flagged keywords as "paused."
- Within limit: If none of the above apply, and data is still missing after sufficient waiting periods, contact LemRank support for further investigation.

Frequently asked questions
I just added keywords — why is everything blank?
The first ranking check runs within 24h of adding (immediately for the first 5 keywords on paid plans). Click data appears 2-3 days after GSC connect.
Why do some keywords show "not ranking"?
"Not ranking" means LemRank checked the SERP and your domain wasn't in the top 100. That's different from missing data — it's data telling you you're not visible.
Why is one country working but another not?
Country-specific tracking is per-keyword. Check the keyword's country setting; if you added it for US but the site targets UK, positions won't match your reality.
